Grace + Thanks
For many, holidays are an opportunity to gather with family and friends who delight in traditional recipes, big laughing, and the loving bustle of a full home.
For many too, this is a time to savour books and tea and quietness when the streets are still. With rest and retreat, this time could be spent beautifully intimate in a small gathering of self; me, myself, and I!
No matter what the outer circumstances are, it’s your inner orientation towards grace and gratitude that will predict how you fair during holidays: family can be stressful and dramatic; aloneness can be lonely and longing.
Is your orientation towards thanks no matter what your circumstances are? Are you ready to let grace and thanks fill your entire being for what you have, that no matter what you don’t have, you have something else. In aloneness you have retreat, in family drama you have a healing opportunity, in stress you have insight. Thanksgiving has passed, what did it offer you?
Embracing whatever shows up for you with grace and thanks is a practice. Between your hustle or hush, enjoy some or all of these wonderfully nurturing practices for body and soul.
